Located at the north end of the Coronado Peninsula in San Diego Bay, NAS North Island is home to several Navy aircraft carriers, including the USSKarl Vinson, UssAbraham Lincoln, and USSMiguel Keith(ESB-5). Naval Station North Island is part of Naval Base Coronado - the US Navy's largest aerospace industrial complex.
NAS North Island is home to several leaseholder commands and squadrons. The base is home to approximately 35,000 active duty military personnel, select reserve military and civilian personnel.
